Why choose tile or stone flooring?
Tile is very popular because of its limitless design potential in homes, offices, restaurants, & outdoor spaces. In homes, tile is popular in kitchen or bathroom design because of its durability and moisture resistance—although it will work well in any space, indoor and out. It also works well in commercial settings because of its ability to withstand heavy foot traffic.
TYPES OF TILE
Types of tile
Ceramic and porcelain tile are molded from clay, then pressed and heated under extreme pressure. Ceramic tile is made from a combination of white, red, and brown clay, sometimes mixed with other minerals. Porcelain tile is similar, but it also contains feldspar, which, when heated and pressurized, forms a glasslike material for extra durability.
Natural stone tile can be produced from one of a variety of materials including granite, marble, limestone, travertine, onyx, slate, and sandstone. Each type of stone varies in density, porousness, moisture resistance, resistance to scratching, and visual appearance.
